This ground floor and basement extension replaced a cold and leaking conservatory. The extension was articulated as a two storey black timber box, punctuated at ground floor level with a large, two-sided panoramic window. The roof is cantilevered from two narrow walls to allow for a glass-to-glass corner, maximising the views over the garden, with a large sliding door connecting the inside and outside.
A roof-light was inserted where the extension meets the existing house to bring light into the depth of the plan with pale finishes enhancing the sense of light and space.
