Split House

Split House

Completed 2019

This new build family house replaces an uninhabitable existing dwelling, located in the Green Belt in Burchett’s Green, Buckinghamshire. The house is designed to complement its surrounding context, referencing local materials and implementing them in a subtle, modern way.

The house is articulated as two separate barn-like structures when viewed from the front, separated by a glass entrance atrium. Stone walls extending into the landscape hide a more contemporary open plan living space to the rear with open views to the garden. A cantilevered roof to the living room extends the space of the house out across the garden terrace.

Split House was awarded Best Contemporary-style Self Build in The Daily Telegraph Homebuilding & Renovating Awards 2020.
