Jake Edgley
Practice Director

Jake previusly worked at Foster and Partners and Squire and Partners before founding Edgley Design in 2004 alongside building his first home- Secret House, and this dual approach to architecture and development has remained his focus in the practice. His designs have won numerous awards and have been widely published. Jake is interested in supporting design led architecture and currently sits on the RIBA Small Practice committee. Jake is a regular awards judge and has judged RIBA London awards.
When not dreaming about houses, or travelling to explore other people’s, Jake’s interests are hanging out with his family in South London, windsurfing, and tinkering with music and art.
Ben Kirk
Associate, Architect
BSc (Hons) Dip Arch ARB
Ben has been at Edgley Design for 13 years and has lead many of the larger projects in the office, notably Godson Street, Portal House, Cantilever House and Ash Tree House. Ben previously worked with Wilkinson Eyre Architects. His Diploma won the prize for best portfolio in his final year. The thesis project was published on Dezeen and exhibited in the Tallinn Architecture Biennale in 2011. He won the Royal Academy Summer Show 2015 Architecture Prize for best work by an architect under the age of 35. Ben is a visiting critic of the Bartlett School of Architecture and University of Westminster.
His favourite architect is Carlo Scarpa, his favourite artist Andy Goldsworthy, and he enjoys cycling and playing football and cricket in his spare time.
John Sumner
Part-I Architectural Assistant
John joined Edgley Design in 2022 after completing his undergraduate studies in Canterbury. John has worked on several projects in the office, notably Step House.
Katherine Armfelt
Katherine has been a member of Edgley Design since 2009, managing office accounts and the administration of development projects. Katherine previously worked in the film industry.
